A neighborhood pub established in 1942, Leo's is a welcome break from Garden City's sophisticated, Manhattan-style dining landscape. Becoming a regular is like being inducted into some local club, where everyone will know your name (and your problems) within the week. Leo's doesn't seem to close, and offers lunch, dinner, brunch on Sunday, and private parties. Sunday afternoons are popular, as locals crowd the bar to watch the day's football games or munch in the backfield with teenage sons on jalapeno pepper poppers, or steak tidbits ''Mona Lisa'' style, served on garlic bread with melted mozzarella and fries. A home-away-from-home, with TV, beer, and plenty of home cooking. |
